1. TaoTronics Computer Speaker
Upon unboxing this speaker, I was blown away. It is built from high-quality materials featuring a small, sleek design. There is no denying that this looks amazing on top of your desk. With this being a soundbar I was quite worried that it would be too big to be functional. However, it is quite compact featuring a mini design. For perspective, it is about a third smaller than a standard monitor, which I think is perfect. It is also worth mentioning, it comes equipped with RGB under-glow lighting as well. This is an especially nice feature if you are a gamer.
When I tested the audio capabilities, I was very surprised. It performed exceptionally well in comparison to others on the list. The audio that it delivered was very clear and crisp sounding amazing. The bass was however a little bit weak, but I did not find it to be an issue.
Where this speaker really performed exceptionally well was its added features. Apart from its corded connectivity it also has BlueTooth capabilities. This makes it very versatile being able to connect to just about any device you could imagine. It also comes equipped with audio buttons on the top of the device which serves its purpose well. Typically speaking you will likely have this soundbar placed in-front of your monitor so it should not be too big of a problem. However, if you do plan to place it off to the side or behind your monitor, these buttons will be difficult to use.
For its overall sound quality, build construction, and added features, the TaoTronics Computer speaker has taken the number one position. There is no denying that this speaker looks and sounds amazing on your desk.
2. Cyber Acoustics 62W
This has to be one of the best sounding computer speakers on the list for the price range. While unboxing these you can easily see that they were built for quality. They are primarily constructed from a high-quality gloss and matte plastic. They feature two desk speakers with a subwoofer and included volume puck. While the speakers and subwoofer are slightly bulky, they do look nice on a desk.
The speakers themselves sound great, delivering clean and crisp audio. While testing them I was overly impressed, they offered a very immersive audio experience. Not to mention the external 5.25-inch subwoofer. This made such a big difference in the audio experience the Cyber Acoustics had to offer. I will however say that the subwoofer did sound slightly dampened. Regardless, for the price, I can’t really complain.
The included desk puck has to be one of my favorite features they have to offer. It sounds like a very minor feature, but it makes all the difference. Being able to both turn off and control the volume at the touch of your fingers is great. It is also worth mentioning that you can control the base with the volume puck as well.
For their overall sound quality and features, the Cyber Acoustics is an amazing set of desktop speakers.
3. Redragon GS520 Anvil RGB Desktop Speakers
If you are looking for something to spice your computer setup a little bit, you may want to consider some RGB speakers. The Redragon GS520 Anvil is undeniably one of the most stylish options on this list. Especially if you have some other RGB lighting features in your setup. While unboxing these I was thoroughly impressed with their level of quality. There is no reason why they will not stand the test of time while adding a stylish touch to your desk.
The audio output on these was surprisingly crisp, delivering a nice amount of bass as well. To be honest I was not too sure what to expect from them but they impressed me. While it was not the best on the list, they did still perform quite well.
On the front of the device is built-in audio adjustment buttons. While it was nice of them to be included, I do find it to be a little awkward. If you place the speakers in a more discrete position it can make these buttons difficult to use. However, if you plan to place them in arms reach, they will work just fine for you.
The Redragon speakers really take the prize for overall design and features. The RGB lighting on the front really does look quite nice with 6 modes to choose from. It emits clean bright lighting that is sure to add that extra touch to your setup.
4. AmazonBasics USB
If you are looking for something that is budget-friendly, this is definitely a great choice. Right out of the box you can see their superb quality. They feel quite heavy which is nice as it adds a level of durability. They feature a sleek and stylish pod design which is sure to look nice in any setup. Their overall design is something that impressed me quite a bit. Once you place them on your desk they fit seamlessly with any design.
They feature 2.4 watts of total RMS power with a frequency range of 80 Hz to 20 kHz. Once plugged in they sound amazing, to say the least. I was pleasantly surprised at their overall audio quality for its given price. To be honest it is quite comparable to many others on this list.
They connect to your computer with the included USB and 3.5mm cable. The USB is what will power these speakers while the 3.5mm jack delivers the audio. On the cable is also an adjustable volume control which is a nice feature.
With them being so small in size, they would make a perfect pair of portable laptop speakers. However, they are also a perfect budget choice for a stationary setup.
5. Logitech Z130 Computer Speakers
I was very pleased with the Logitech Z130 speakers, Over the years I have become a big fan of most Logitech accessories, rightfully so. At first look, you can see that the Z130 is built to last. They are constructed from high-quality matte plastic equipped with rubber base feet. For their price, I was very impressed with its overall build quality.
When we take a look at the audio quality, it performs amazingly well. Logitech really does make great sounding audio devices to say the least. They delivered crisp and clean audio experiences that were quite immersive. The base however was on a little bit of the weaker side. But, that was to be expected as they do not come with an external subwoofer device.
On the front of the right speaker comes an adjustable audio dial. This is a nice little added feature, but I am a fan of external audio control pucks. Regardless of this, it was nice to see as it makes adjusting noise levels quick and easy.
For their price, the Logitech Z130’s make an amazing pair of computer speakers.
What Should I Look for in Computer Speakers Under $50?
While I do believe choosing any one of the options on this list should suit most of your needs. There are a few things that should be considered before making a decision.
I believe that this is one of the biggest deciding factors on which option you go with. If you primarily use a laptop you may want to consider something small and portable like the Amazon Basics. They are small enough in size that you can take them with you wherever you go. However, if you primarily use a stationary computer, you will not have that issue.
Of course, you also have to look into how you plan to use them as well. If you would like to be able to connect to multiple devices such as your phone, you may want to get one with wireless capabilities.
As a general rule of thumb, I recommend looking at how you intend to use them. Then consider whether or not its features will meet your expectations.
Regardless of how you plan to use the speakers, I am sure you want them to sound nice. At this price range, it is difficult to find anything that is absolutely amazing. However, there are still quite a few options that I am sure will impress you a lot. It is important to consider something with decent RMS and quality drivers. This will help ensure that it delivers a clean and stable audio experience.
Of course, some of the options on this list have external or built in subwoofers as well. If you plan to mostly watch movies or play video games this is a nice feature. Having a subwoofer will deliver a powerful amount of bass, this can ultimately make the experience more immersive.
With speakers being placed on your desk, you will want something that looks nice. I mean you will likely have them in plain sight being very easy to see. This tends to be a personal preference as you may want something that is small and discrete. On the other hand, you may want some that will add a visual touch to your desk. There are many different sleek designs and features such as RGB lighting to suit your preference.
Conclusion – The Top Pick
At the end of the day, I believe selecting any one of the options on this list is a great decision. They all come equipped with different features and capabilities making each one have its own benefits and disadvantages. To be honest, it was quite difficult to narrow this list down as there are a lot of options out there.
However, the TaoTronics Computer Soundbar has taken the number one position. The overall sound quality, design, features, and functionality have made it my number one pick. It really has been built to cater to just about every single computer user out there. Not to mention the RGB under-glow this speaker has. There is no denying that it adds a nice little aesthetic touch to your desk. And, if that is not your thing it can be easily turned off. Regardless it is an amazon speaker at an affordable price.
